“A great family estate in Gigondas, Domaine Brusset was created by Andre Brusset in 1947. Today, it covers over 70 hectares (in Gigondas, Cairanne, Rasteau and Côtes du Rhône) and is run by Daniel Brusset, with help from his grandson, Laurent. This estate uses a relatively high percentage of new oak, and they definitely show modern characters in their youth, yet they age beautifully and in this reviewer’s opinion, never lose their Southern Rhône charm or soul. […] The 2015 Cairanne les Chabriles is a Grenache and Syrah blend that was destemmed and aged in a mix of concrete tanks and demi-muids. Rich, decadent, layered and mouth-filling, it boasts terrific notes of black raspberries, cassis, lavender and flowers. It has plenty of sweet tannin, but I suspect this will disappear by the time it’s bottled.”
