Bevan Cellars

Napa Valley

Bevan Cellars was founded by Russell Bevan and Victoria De Crescenzo. Relocating for work from Minneapolis to the San Francisco Bay area allowed them to purchase a small vineyard in Bennett Valley, and a fateful encounter with Kal Showket, of Showket Vineyard, provided him with his first tons of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. A true “garage” wine was crafted and after presenting the wine to Kal, Russell was hired on as Showket’s winemaker. In 2005, Bevan Cellars was born with the release of a Cabernet from Showket Vineyard and Haystack Vineyard in the Bennett Valley AVA in Sonoma.

2007 brought the first critical acclaim from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (always a good sign!), and a few years of hard work and crafty financial wrangling financed the project further. Then in 2011 Russell’s reputation as a gifted talent was galvanized when he produced the only 100 Parker-point wine of the vintage, a Cabernet from Tin Box Vineyard, owned by Screaming Eagle founder Jean Phillips.

In 2015 they purchased the 41-acre Saunders Vineyard in eastern Oakville, between Peter Michael’s Au Paradis Vineyard and Oakville Ranch. This is prime Cabernet terroir, home to some of the best wines in Napa Valley. It shows.
