Buehler Vineyards

Napa Valley

Buehler Vineyards is an idyllic 300 acre winery located six miles east of St. Helena in the Conn Valley. In 1971, John Buehler Sr. bought a retirement property here and his son John Jr. pursued his dream of becoming a viticulturist. After 6 years of growing and selling top-quality Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel, John Jr. tried his hand at producing 700 cases of wine to great success. In 1983, they hired young Heidi Peterson Barrett, who guided the wines from vine to glass until 1988. She would go on to gain fame as winemaker at Screaming Eagle, and is now one of Napa’s top consulting winemakers. From 1988 to 1993, John Jr. took the helm. In 1993, he hired David Cronin, who makes the wines to this day.

Buehler Vineyards produces Estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, White Zinfandel and Chardonnay from two vineyards in the Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County. Buehler wines prove that elegant, age-worthy, classic wines from the Napa Valley can be purchased for very reasonable value.

“It’s hard to find value in Napa Valley, although great wines there are plentiful. That said, Buehler Vineyards, owning their own property for years, has turned out some very well-made, moderately priced wines.”
– Robert Parker on Buehler Vineyards, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, August 2015
