The Leflaive family’s wines are some of France’s most renowned. Based out of Puligny-Montrachet, they without question produce some of the greatest Chardonnays in the world. Olivier Leflaive Frères branched off from the original Domaine Leflaive holdings to explore and promote additional Burgundy lieux-dits alongside their own world-famous vineyards. In this same spirit of savoir-faire and a willingness to expand and flourish in the greatest of terroirs, Champagne Valentin Leflaive was born. Champagne Valentin Leflaive is based out of Oger, one of the most prestigious appellations on the Côte des Blancs. These are Champagnes made by masters of Grand Cru White Burgundy. Thus a proportion of their wines are aged in barrels previously used for Puligny-Montrachet and Montrachet, which now contribute additional complexity to these Champagne cuvées. The Champagne Valentin Leflaive labels have a unique and innovative way of ‘codifying’ their labels to identify terroir, base wine “vintages”, and their dosage.
