Sitting between the Mediterranean and the foothills of the Cévennes mountains, in the village of Cabrerolles, Château Estanilles is one of the most famous estates in Languedoc-Roussillon as well as one of the pioneers of the Faugères appellation. The vineyards extend over 35 hectares of the surrounding hillsides at an altitude of 300 metres. Two of the estate’s finest terroirs are Estagnols and Fontanilles, hence the name of the Château.
In Faugères, contrasting elements create an amazing environment for grape growing. The hot and dry conditions during the summer and early autumn can cause water stress, forcing the vines to extend their deep into the soil to find water. In contrast, the northern winds cool the vines and help maintain aromatic freshness during the ripening of the grapes.
In 2009, Julien Seydoux brought a young and dynamic energy to the very traditional image of the Faugères appellation when he purchased the property. Chateau Estanilles obtained organic certification in 2010 and has made significant investments modernizing the winemaking facilities.
