Château Mire l'Etang

Languedoc Roussillon

Situated on the South-Eastern foothills of the La Clape Massif near Narbonne in Southern France, Château Mire l‘Etang is uniquely positioned to produce some of the finest wines of the Languedoc Roussillon. The Chamayrac family purchased the property in 1972 and immediately set to work replanting vineyards and upgrading the existing facilities. The estate vineyards are now planted to classic varietals of the region: Syrah, Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre for red wines, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, and Bourboulenc for whites. Rooted in stony, calcareous soil, the vines are are bathed in Mediterranean sunlight, cooled by ocean breezes and nourished by the Aude river.

The winery was awarded its first medal at the Concours des Grands Vins de France de Macon in 1977 and continues to be held in high regard. In 2013, France’s Guide Hachette awarded Château Mire l‘Etang with its second consecutive Coup de Coeur, the publication’s highest recommendation. Hachette’s judges went on to praise the Château for its ability to express the unique genius of its terroir.
