Domaine Chante Perdrix

Southern Rhône

The Chante Perdrix domaine was established by Etienne Pécoul in 1896. Henri Nicolets’ children Guy and Frédéric Nicolet (third and fourth generations) run it today and farm the 18 hectares around the property. The vineyards are located towards the south end of the appellation and are planted with vines averaging 45 years of age, laid around with traditional ‘galet’ stones to absorb and reflect the sun’s warmth, and impede evaporation. Guy and Frédéric Nicolet look for perfect ripeness in their wines, thus producing one of the more flamboyant, exotically-scented, Provençal styled Châteauneuf-du-Papes.

“Covering roughly 50 acres (mostly in the les Galimardes and les Serres lieux-dits), this solid estate is owned by the Nicolet family and they release a classic red and white Châteauneuf du Pape. Quality here is consistently good to outstanding.”
