Carter Cellars

Carter Cellars’ winemaking begins with the simple idea of matching the best grapes from world-renowned vineyard sources with purist and non-interventionist winemaking. Under their grower’s watchful eyes and experienced hands, the cultivation of their grapes is an arduous dance that ensures that the grapes they use are optimal for creating their limited production, high quality wines.

A low-production, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon blend from the top Carter vineyard sources, this wine showcases the very best of what Napa Valley has to offer. The various vineyard elements fuse to create a rich, sumptuous Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon endowed with massive concentration and intensity.

This full-bodied, layered, racy style shows the purity and elegance of the vintage. A wine that is both great for cellaring or drinking right now.

“The single-varietal 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Carter is a blend from To Kalon and Las Piedras with a little Coliseum Block. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant notes of blackcurrant jelly, blueberry pie, and plum preserves plus suggestion of dried herbs, tobacco leaf, and underbrush. The full-bodied palate is lively and ready to go, with alluring black fruit layers and savory accents coming through on the plush finish.”
96 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent, October 2023

“The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Carter is already complex, if not slightly exotic, with perfumed red and blue fruits supported by minty herbs, graphite, iron, and crushed stone, with a pretty violet character developing with time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, straight and focused on the palate, it has fine tannins, good overall balance, and outstanding length. It’s not a blockbuster but shines for its pure, focused style.”
95 points, Jeb Dunnuck, June 2023
