Burgundy-trained winemaker Davide Rosso leads one of Barolo’s most fascinating wineries. The Rosso family’s Serralunga d’Alba vineyard plots are farmed according to organic and biodynamic practices, with minimal intervention in the cellar: grapes are hand-harvested; wine is vinified slowly in cement tanks with native yeasts, aged in French oak casks for several months, and bottled unfiltered.
Langhe Nebbiolo is made in an earlier-drinking style than Barbaresco and Barolo – a “Baby Barolo”, if you will. Direct, elegant, expressive, and truly delicious, the Nebbiolo for Rosso’s Langhe comes from the same vineyards that supply fruit for the winery’s flagship Barolo. This is remarkable value. Aged several months in large oak vats prior to bottling, the wine has bright red fruit flavours; a spicy, savoury, earthy quality; good structure; and a long finish.
“A restrained, elegant and perfumed wine with aromas of wild strawberries, red currants and licorice. A lifted palate with crisp acidity, a light body, good tannins and a long, spicy finish. Drink now.”
