Each wine in Kosta Browne’s “Appellation Series” is a regional celebration that captures the unique qualities of the particular appellation.
The Santa Rita Hills (one of California’s smaller AVA’s) was born 20 million years ago when tectonic plates caused mountains to rise out of the ocean, break, then rotate, creating a transverse mountain range running inland from the Pacific. In addition to mineral rich soil literally raised from the ocean floor, the unique mountain range funnels cooling coastal fog to inland vines. As a result, this region is one of the best cool-climate growing regions for Pinot Noir in the world.
The Kosta Browne Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir is a fragrant, focused, structured wine with notes of strawberry and cherry and a pleasing tension from bright acidity. It is robust and dynamic, with intense fruit and spice notes continuing throughout the palate, building to a complex and polished finish.
