Each wine in Kosta Browne’s “Appellation Series” is a regional celebration that captures the unique qualities of the particular appellation.

The Santa Rita Hills (one of California’s smaller AVA’s) was born 20 million years ago when tectonic plates caused mountains to rise out of the ocean, break, then rotate, creating a transverse mountain range running inland from the Pacific. In addition to mineral rich soil literally raised from the ocean floor, the unique mountain range funnels cooling coastal fog to inland vines. As a result, this region is one of the best cool-climate growing regions for Pinot Noir in the world.

The Kosta Browne Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir is a fragrant, focused, structured wine with notes of strawberry and cherry and a pleasing tension from bright acidity. It is robust and dynamic, with intense fruit and spice notes continuing throughout the palate, building to a complex and polished finish.

“Matured for 15 months in 52% new oak, the 2021 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills has a very pretty expression this vintage. The nose features detailed scents of blueberries, strawberries, Earl Grey tea leaves and forest floor, and the medium- bodied palate offers generous, perfumed fruit on a delicate frame, finishing long and layered.”

“Tasty, with a large core of succulent cherry and blackberry fruit notes laced with a light briar note, all backed by subtle mesquite and savory elements on the racy finish. Drink now through 2028. 3,350 cases made.’
