Domaine des Perdrix

Burgundy

Domaine des Perdrix is one of those Burgundy estates whose modern reputation was built not on flashy reinvention, but on the patient elevation of already great terroir. The turning point came in 1996, when the Devillard family, winegrowers for five generations, took over the domaine. At that time, the vineyards were already in strong condition, but the estate itself was not yet widely celebrated because much of its production had historically been sold off to the trade rather than bottled and promoted under the domaine’s own name. The Devillards invested heavily in the cellar and brought a more exacting approach to vineyard work, vinification, and estate identity, helping transform Domaine des Perdrix into one of the notable names of the Côte de Nuits.

Today, Domaine des Perdrix farms about 12 hectares in the Côte de Nuits, with holdings in Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Aux Perdrix, and Échezeaux Grand Cru. More than half of its vineyard area is in Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites, and the estate describes Aux Perdrix as a quasi-monopole, owning 99% of that premier cru vineyard. This concentration of elite holdings explains why the domaine rose so quickly once the wines began being fully championed under its own label.
