Château Meyney is one of Saint-Estèphe’s most historic estates, with viticultural roots stretching back to the 13th century. The property was formally established in 1625, when it came into the hands of the Feuillant monks, who developed Meyney into an important vineyard estate overlooking the Gironde estuary. In 1919, it was acquired by the influential Cordier family, owners of celebrated Médoc properties including Château Talbot and Château Gruaud-Larose. Since 2004, Meyney has been owned by CA Grands Crus, which has invested significantly in the vineyards and winery, helping return the estate to the upper tier of Saint-Estèphe.

The 2019 Château Meyney is an impressive expression of Saint-Estèphe, blending 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 16% Petit Verdot. Deep and concentrated, it opens with blackcurrant, blackberry and dark plum layered with violet, cedar, tobacco, graphite and savoury spice. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, combining generous dark fruit with vibrant freshness and finely polished tannins. Notes of pencil lead, licorice, earth and subtle dark chocolate emerge toward the long, structured finish.

“The 2019 Meyney has a divine bouquet, so pure and winsome with floral red berry scents, beautifully integrated new oak and superb precision. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy to the point where you can almost overlook the backbone of this Saint-Estèphe. It could have been blowsy, yet it retains superb balance and feels luxuriant and long on the finish. This is a stellar showing easily eclipsing its performances either in barrel or just after bottling. Drinking Window: 2026-2055”
