Château Saint-Maur is one of Provence’s historic Cru Classé estates, a distinction dating back to 1955 and held by only 18 wineries. Set in the village of Cogolin, near the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, the château itself was built in the late 19th century and today spans roughly 100 hectares across the foothills of the Maures Massif. The estate entered a new era after its acquisition by Roger Zannier in 2011, with a renewed focus on precision, elegance, and high-end Provençal rosé.
L’Excellence Cru Classé Rosé 2025 is crafted from a classic Provençal-style blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 30% Cinsault, and a touch of Rolle, Mourvèdre and Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes are grown on schist and limestone-clay soils rich in quartz, which give the wines an exquisite mineral edge. The winemaking emphasizes delicacy, with cold maceration at low temperatures followed by aging in stainless steel tanks to preserve aromatic purity. In the glass, expect a pale salmon hue and a fresh, expressive profile of white peach, ruby grapefruit, redcurrant, and raspberry, supported by lively acidity, and a polished, elegant finish.
Pair it with grilled prawns, niçoise salad, tuna crudo, or herb-roasted chicken; dishes that highlight the wine’s freshness, subtle fruit, and refined Mediterranean character.
