Located in the heart of the Sonoma Coast, in a former apple processing facility in Sebastopol, California, Crossbarn wines are made with labor-intensive, yet simple techniques. This innovative winery is led by renowned winemaker Paul Hobbs. Dedicated to crafting wines of stunning quality and exceptional value, his approach combines sustainable vineyard practices and traditional technique. These sophisticated wines focus on the expression of California’s most celebrated AVA’s, including Napa Valley for Cabernet.
Produced using hand-harvested fruit picked at night when the berries are cool, Crossbarn’s Napa Cabernet is a showcase for some of the valley’s best vineyards. Fruit macerated for nearly a month following fermentation by native yeast, then spent roughly 20 months maturing in French oak (mostly old).
This wine shows deep ruby in hue with a bouquet of crushed violets, red currant, and black plum. A bounty of concentrated black fruits is featured on the palate, accompanied by dried herbs and cacao. Structured tannins provide this full-bodied wine with a unique depth along with a lively acidity that gives tension to a long, seamless finish.
“A medium-bodied red with black berries and blackcurrants with some chocolate and walnut aromas and flavors. So delicious and velvety structured. Delicious finish. Drink or hold.”

“Lush and fruity, with a wave of plum puree and mulberry fruit cruising along, flanked by apple wood and licorice. Reveals subtle sweet bay leaf accents. Drink now through 2030. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 6,367 cases made.”
91 points, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, November 2023
