The Chablis Grand Cru Valmur is a small parcel between two other grands crus – Les Clos and Vaudesir. It’s a terroir composed mainly of clay-limestone soil and benefits from both south-east and north-east exposures. The vines are over 60 years old and are harvested and sorted manually. Vinification occurs in stainless steel vats and in young barrels for 9 months.

Over time, the estate has converted to organic farming with official Organic Agriculture certification with Ecocert since the 2013 vintage.

Attractive floral aromas with a hint of honeysuckle, green apple, toast, and mandarin oranges. Extremely well-balanced structure with crystal clear juicy acidity, layered with minerality. A truly powerful and complex wine.

“The 2022 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru, which was taken from tank where it will stay until February, is the final vintage before one significantly contributing parcel was pulled up. The perfumed bouquet has yellow plum and touches of pistachio, crushed stone and a touch of wild mint. The beautifully balanced palate has a velvety texture and a fine bead of acidity, very precise, with an utterly delectable persistent finish. One of Moreau’s strongest cuvées (as usual) – not to be underestimated.”
95-97 points, Neal Martin, Vinous Media, September 2023

“Half tank, half wood, will be blended very soon now. Clean clear pale lemon yellow. The nose shows a lightly salty character with a block of orchard fruit behind. This wine is massive on the palate, like a solid block of marble, with a little toast, a little citrus and a touch of salt for seasoning. Still totally youthful. This should develop extremely well. Drink from 2030-2040.”
92-95 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy, December 2023
