This is a single-vineyard village level wine from the ‘Houillères’ vineyard, located on the northern border of Chassagne-Montrachet, bordering Puligny. The vineyard is located just south of Le Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Crus. The 65 year old Chardonnay vines lie on clay-limestone soils.
On arrival at the winery, the grapes are immediately pressed using a pneumatic press. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for 16 months, 22% of which are new.
“Clear pale mid lemon. A steelier nose than Blanchots, but maintaining an impressive intensity all the way through, good acidity, some yellow fruit, properly persistent.”
90-92 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy, October 2020
