Characterized by deep clay-rich soil interspersed with white chalk, the Clos du Bourg vineyard is a site where Chenin Blanc is able to express its wonderful aromatics while maintaining a racy acidity. Like all of Huet’s vineyards, the land has been treated according to biodynamic principles for over 25 years.

The Demi-Sec wines of Vouvray are often considered the most representative of the village’s wines, and none more so than those from the Clos du Bourg. Punchy and dynamic, the innate power of the vineyard is amplified with the increased richness of the Demi-Sec style.

“This voluptuous, full-bodied, off-dry white shows a lot of power, offering round pear, mango and honeycomb flavors that take a salty turn on the palate, with brine, crushed flint and bitter almond skin, backed by a subtle hint of brioche on the finish. Opening up in the glass, this gorgeous wine offers loads of immediate charm, but should have a long life ahead in the cellar as well. Drink now through 2035.”

“The 2022 Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec is round and appealing, akin to a cozy night in with your slippers on; there’s flesh and succulence, but it retains its shape and a sense of lightness on its feet. The ripeness of white stone fruit reminds me of nectarine and a heady floral character reminiscent of honeysuckle, even verging jasmine. And yet, it shows its pedigree in its fine texture and line.”
