The sec (dry) wines of the Loire are considered to be a pure expression of the best of both Chenin Blanc and the terroir of the Vouvray region. At Domaine Huet, grapes are grown according to biodynamic principles, then harvested and meticulously sorted by hand. Each cuvée shows a precise expression of the Domaine’s soils.
The soil in Huet’s Le Mont vineyard is pebbly and consists mainly of green-coloured clay and silica. The wines produced in this vineyard are traditionally elegant and poised. Vinified in the tradition of the house, the pure, chiseled, mineral flint of the Le Mont vineyard comes through on the nose and the palate.
“This 2021 Le Mont Sec fills the mouth with pear, pineapple, nectarine and violet flavours. There’s a sense of seduction and succulence through the middle of this wine. The flint and the coolness of the site seem to bring a sense of tension and purpose through this wine, which seduces you then spits you out. Delightful fragrance and a mouthwatering, racy finish. Drinking Window 2022-2040.” 96 points, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous Media, June 2022
