Château de Thauvenay is one of the rare châteaux in the Sancerre area. Its 18 hectare vineyard is entirely grouped around the château on a magnificent terroir dominated by limestone. With controlled yields between 60 and 65 Hl/Ha, the estate fruit is harvested in the early morning to preserve freshness then undergoes pneumatic pressing. Maceration in small thermo-regulated stainless steel vats with pumping. The wine is then matured on fine lees until bottling in the spring.
Chateau de Thauvenay “Terroir Calcaire” Sancerre is expressive with a dominance of tropical fruits. Notes of pineapple, lychee is well-balanced with a nice crisp lemon finish.
