Auguste Thévenaut

Auguste Thévenaut is a Burgundy-based label crafted by one of the region’s long-established winemaking families. Known for producing expressive, accessible wines from key appellations, the maison behind Auguste Thévenaut emphasizes tradition, terroir, and sustainable practices.

The Auguste Thévenaut Bourgogne Pinot Noir is sourced from the foot of southeast-facing slopes near some of the region’s most prestigious Crus. Following harvest and malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 8 to 10 months in stainless steel vats, preserving the purity and freshness of its aromatics. On the nose, it offers vibrant notes of strawberry and blackcurrant, which give way on the palate to hints of peppery cooked plums. Finely balanced tannins complement the fruit and acidity for a supple, well-rounded profile.

This tender and fruit-forward Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with grilled red meats and soft cheeses like Camembert or Brie.

“This is nicely firm, mid-weight, tidy pinot noir. The nose is quite generous and shows red and black fruit notes – cherry/blackcurrant – with well tucked fresh herbs, toast and forest floor. It is medium weight, polished and well balanced. Acid is juicy, tannins are quite fine with a slightly mineral finish. The length is excellent. More here than meets the price and a good lens on Burgundy at a decent price. Best through this decade. Tasted July 2025.”
