Azelia’s Barolo is a classic expression of Nebbiolo, drawn from a blend of seven estate vineyards across Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d’Alba. These sites combine white calcareous soils with clay influences, bringing together the finesse and aromatics of Castiglione with the structure and depth of Serralunga. Mature vines rooted in these prized hills form the backbone of this balanced and age-worthy Barolo.
Made from 100% Nebbiolo, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and undergoes extended maceration using submerged cap fermentation to build structure and complexity. Aging takes place for two years in large oak casks, allowing the wine to develop without masking its terroir. The nose is expressive and refined, with notes of cherry, blackcurrant, rose, and licorice. On the palate, it shows power and poise, with firm yet fruity tannins, bright acidity, and a long, harmonious finish.
This Barolo pairs best with rich, traditional dishes. Serve it with braised beef, veal, or game, as well as truffle-based preparations and mushroom dishes. It also complements aged cheeses, making it a classic choice for the table and the cellar.
“Always assembled from seven sites within the villages of Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d’Alba, Azelia’s Barolo takes Cerretta and Bricco Voghera in the latter as its base. Freshness on the nose presents as rosehip, cranberry bush, violet and pomegranate. The palate follows with might and exuberance: rich dark raspberry melds into layers of ripe, soft tannins. Underlying brightness and tangy acidity keep this vivacious, while tea leaf and nutmeg prolong the finish. A classy and immediately satisfying Barolo.”

“Restrained, if not low-key on the nose, with spicy and peppery character to the red-fruit, pomegranate and fresh floral aromas. Medium-bodied, it shows firm, youthful tannins with crisp acidity and an austere, grainy finish. Try from 2027.”
