Crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon grown in Buehler’s hillside estate vineyards and other mature low-yield Napa Valley Cabernet vineyards on the valley floor, this wine captures the spectrum of aromas, flavours, and textures that develop in Cabernet from different Napa Valley sites.
The wine was racked four times in the first year of aging to encourage aroma and tannin development, then aged for around a year and a half in French and American oak. The result is a quintessential Napa Cab: seamless, balanced, lush yet elegant. A real treat.
The wine brims with black fruit aromas and flavours that will drink well on release. A decade or so in the cellar will yield a velvety texture, softened tannins, and a more nuanced nose and palate.
“So appreciate two facets of major importance from the Buehler cabernet sauvignon. The first is aromatic volume and the second would be exceptional acidity, both acting to lift and buoy fruit, keep it scrolling like a ferris wheel and without any sacrifice to the body politic of the wine. The alcohol at 14.5 is fulsome with heft and the weight of the wine settles well and balanced on the palate without laying down tracks of density. Fine, suave and built on a proper tannic profile to see this cabernet sauvignon live well for up to 10 years. A bottle of the ’21 in hand and “the question isn’t, what are we going to do? The question is, what aren’t we going to do?'”
