Curator Wine Co is a small Barossa producer based in Marananga, shaped by founder Tom White’s family vineyards in the Adelaide Hills in the late 1980s. Today, Tom and his wife Bridget run the vineyard from the original settler’s stone cottage built in the 1890’s, an origin story that evolved into a focused Barossa project built to champion site and old-vine character since 2013.
Wines from the Marananga sub-region of the Barossa Valley sit on the Western Ridge, which produce powerful, deeply coloured, full-bodied reds with serious structure due to the red sandy-clay soils rich in ironstone and quartzite.
Predominantly Cabernet from their Marananga vineyard with 5% Petit Verdot, the wine is fermented in 100% French oak (15% new) for three weeks, and aged for 16 months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Expect a ripe, full-bodied Barossa expression with black and red currant, cassis, blackberry and blueberry, with hints of violet, dark chocolate and coffee, showcasing bright acidity and finely structured tannins driving a long, balanced finish.
Go classic and bold with char-grilled ribeye, rosemary-and-garlic lamb, BBQ brisket, or aged cheddar. The wine’s cassis fruit and firm tannins love smoke, fat, and savoury herbs.
