As with all of Domaine la Meulière wines, the aim of the Laroche Brothers is to offer Chablis that truly represent the terroir and that age gracefully. From Vincent in the vineyards to Nicolas’ watchful eye in the cellar, these wines are guided by the family’s hand from vine to bottle.
Domaine la Meulière’s Chablis originates from plots located on the right bank of the Serein, where each grape is hand-selected and sorted for purity of fruit.
The nose offers hints of lemon, lemongrass, crushed minerals, the mouth is driven by a mouth-watering acidity to a fairly long mineral finish. Perfect on its own as an aperitif, this wine’s light freshness, lovely texture, and good length also make it a marvellous pairing with stuffed clams, carpaccio de St. Jacques, and ceviche, not to mention charcuterie: terrine, ham, andouille sausage.
“Here’s a quite ripe yet still very Chablis unoaked chardonnay. The nose is nicely intense and expressive with some flint, chive, yellow apple/pear and lemon blossom. It is quite fulsome, intense and powerful with considerable heat, and excellent length. Lacking some finesse of the 1er crus but a pleasing full on Chablis from a hot year.”
