Viña Cobos – Felino

A little insider’s tip: If you love the polish and pedigree of the the internationally acclaimed Paul Hobbs’ California wines, Viña Cobos is his Argentinian passion project. These wines over-deliver at every price point and should not be missed.

100% Malbec grown in prime vineyards in the Valle de Uco and Luján de Cuyo which are situated at an incredible 700-1070 metres above sea level. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks then aged in American oak barrels, a small proportion of which are new, for 9 months.

The wine is a deep violet red with black tones. It displays an attractive nose with aromas of fresh black fruits and prunes. The palate displays good concentration and balance, with sweet yet supple tannins. Pair with a flank steak and chimichurri sauce.

“The 2024 Malbec Felino is sourced 65% from Valle de Uco, 35% from Lujan de Cuyo, with the wine aged in small barriques for nine months, only 8% new. Juicy in a tantalizing combination of red and blue fruit, the tannins are soft and supple in texture and grip. The fruit is focused and ripe, fully developed, and dark and brooding in color. There’s structure to the tannins and moderate acidity, providing a foundation for the beautifully juicy red fruit and light spice. Drink now and for another 10 years.”

“The 2024 Malbec Felino reveals bright red fruit, hints of black fruit and a balsamic spice accent. It is grippy, plush and juicy. This is a flavorful red with improved length compared to previous vintages.”
92 points, Joaquín Hidalgo, August 2025
