A blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, and Mourvèdre from pebbly clay and limestone soil.
Red garnet in colour with notes of jammy dark fruit, cherry, licorice, and spice on the nose. Very round on the palate with mellow tannins and a finish dominated by spices, particularly pepper notes, and notes of fresh and preserved purple and red fruits. A perfect wine to pair with grilled meat, game, or hard cheeses.
“In the world of Côtes Du Rhone the Chevalier D’Anthelme is a hefty and substantial one, aromatically spicy and throttle pulled to maximum for that appellation. Don’t come around here expecting light, fruity and simple – the gauges are whipping to the far right and the fruit grips tight to hang on and surf the peaking waves. Plenty of glycerin and bite, a chewiness of deep red fruit and a vague impression of cherry bitters at the finish. Drink 2024-2026. Tasted April 2024.”
90 points, Michael Godel, Wine Align, April 2024
