Curator Wine Co is a small Barossa producer based in Marananga, shaped by founder Tom White’s family vineyards in the Adelaide Hills in the late 1980s. Today, Tom and his wife Bridget run the vineyard from the original settler’s stone cottage built in the 1890’s, an origin story that evolved into a focused Barossa project built to champion site and old-vine character since 2013.
“Hamlets” is Curator’s nod to the Barossa’s patchwork of sub-regions. This Shiraz blends fruit predominately sourced across three Barossa vineyards all planted in the 1950’s, with an added 20% estate fruit, layering different sites into one distinct expression.
Each parcel is picked, de-stemmed and fermented separately in open-top stainless steel tanks and hang plunged multiple times daily for 10 days to extract colour and flavour. The wines are then blended together and aged for 12 months in seasoned American and French oak. Expect juicy blackberry and mulberry depth with spice-like warmth and a plush, velvety finish.
Go classic Barossa with pepper-crusted ribeye, slow-braised lamb shoulder, or chargrilled eggplant with harissa and lentils. The wine’s dark fruit and spice love smoke, char, and savoury richness.
