Few vineyards capture the grandeur of Chablis quite like Grenouilles Grand Cru, and Domaine Gautherin’s is a superb expression of this tiny, highly prized site. Produced entirely from Chardonnay, it combines the unmistakable mineral tension of Chablis with the depth and texture expected from Grand Cru terroir. Around 1,600 bottles produced.

The wine opens with beautifully defined aromas of lemon zest, green apple, white peach and subtle floral notes, gradually revealing layers of chalk, crushed stone and delicate citrus oil. The palate is concentrated yet remarkably precise, with bright acidity cutting through a richer, almost creamy texture. Notes of ripe orchard fruit, lemon sorbet, wet stone and saline minerality build toward an exceptionally long, mouthwatering finish.

“The 2023 Chablis Grenouilles Grand Cru is a scintillating wine from Gautherin. There is initially a sense of reserve on the nose, then it opens with quite strict, wonderfully delineated gladed pond, green apple and subtle gooseberry scents. The palate is taut and fresh, with razor-sharp acidity and a dab of lemon sorbet mixed with lime on the entry. This is bright and vivid but somehow manages to retain a sense of Chablis classicism. The 2023 has superb sapidity on the finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is a must-buy.”
