The Chenin Blanc grapes for this wine come from the 8 hectare Le Mont vineyard which is characterized by its flinty soil, pebbly clay and silica. Le Mont contains more clay and flint than Clos du Bourg, leading to wines that are off dry with juicy high acidity, are richly textured and show more intensely mineral. Drinking well now but also tastes and feels like this is a wine with serious ageing potential.
“The 2022 Le Mont Demi-Sec is less fruity and charming than, say, Clos du Bourg; its tension and line come from its flint terroir. Despite its 21 g/L residual sugar, it retains a sense of tautness without being totally linear. Radish and pear notes linger on the long finish. This is grown-up demi-sec.”

“This has the structure and bitter-edged minerality to carry its weight and ripeness, with beeswax and white tea notes that overlay crunchy orchard fruit and pink grapefruit with peppery spice notes woven in. A lot of savory detail and acidity makes this superbalanced and very food-friendly.”
