Tenuta Fratini is a young estate with deep Bolgheri roots. The Fratini family helped establish Tenuta Argentiera in 1999 alongside the Antinori family, later selling the estate in 2016 before returning to Bolgheri with a new, highly focused project developed around micro-parcel selection and detailed soil analysis, with vineyards planted to Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot near the Tuscan coast.
The hand-harvested and sorted grapes are fermented in truncated-cone concrete tanks, and then aged for 14 months in 30% new French oak barriques.
Tenuta Fratini’s Harte is Bolgheri at its most seductive. This is a wine of velvet texture and coastal glamour, layered with black cherry, cassis, crushed raspberry, violet, sweet tobacco, dark chocolate, espresso and a whisper of wild Mediterranean herbs. Full-bodied and beautifully sculpted, it glides across the palate with ripe, silky tannins, vibrant freshness and a long, savoury finish.
Pair it with grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, lamb with rosemary, wild mushroom dishes or aged Tuscan cheeses. Drink now with a decant, or cellar for further complexity.
“The 2023 Harte, a blend of 38% Cabernet Franc, 32% Merlot, and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, pours a deep matte red hue and is ripe and seductive, with aromas of suede, chestnut, black cherry, baked fig, cedar, and coffee. Full-bodied, it’s plush and enveloping, with ripe tannins, a sanguine lift of acidity, and a coating yet balanced texture, as well as a touch of warmth that remains well-integrated. Sourced from schist soils at 120-180 meters elevation, it shows notable length and a more mature, savory profile within the range. For my palate, it stands out for its brightness and more linear character. Drink 2026-2041.”
