The second wine of Château Léoville Poyferré, the Pavillon benefits from the same care as its big brother, both in the vineyard and in the cellars.

Bursting with fruit, this bright, attractive wine is accessible in its youth but will also cellar beautifully. Dominated by Cabernet and supported by Merlot, Petit Verdot & Cabernet Franc, the Pavillon is a purest’s representation of St Julien – majestically pairing concentration with elegance and purity.

“Deep purple colour in the glass. Heady on the nose, perfumed and floral. Quite strong with the aromas flowing out the glass. Lovely impact straight away, this is clear and well defined, a core of bright fruit – linear and quite a lean style of fruit but good definition supported by gently grippy, chewy tannins. Lots of potential here. I like it, even if the tannins are on the powerful and muscular side right now.” 93 points, Georgina Hindle, Decanter, January 2022

“The 2019 Pavillon De Léoville Poyferré is another great second wine in the vintage and has a great bouquet of black cherries, mulberries, spicy incense, and sappy, floral nuances. With medium to full-bodied richness on the palate, it offers terrific complexity, supple yet present tannins, the freshness and elegance of the vintage, and a great finish. It will evolve for 15+ years or more.”

“Drinking window: 2024 – 2036. The 2019 Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré has a vibrant, almost citrus-like bouquet, with blood orange infusing the mélange of red and black fruit, and hints of iodine coming through with aeration. This feels nicely composed. The palate is medium-bodied and fleshy with supple tannins and pleasing plumpness on the midpalate. Velvety-smooth with black plum and hint of licorice toward the finish. Good substance for a Deuxième Vin, though give it a couple of years for the oak to be assimilated. Recommended.”
